The Miami Heat added some very talented players to their roster this past year, but perhaps one of their most talented players, Dwyane Wade, has been there since 2003. Wade has been the face for the Miami Heat for awhile and is a very positive player to have on the team.
Despite his success on the court, Wade has been batteling a major issue off the court.
Wade has been trying to get custody of his children for quite some time now. The children's mother, Siohvaughn Wade, has had the children and has denied Wade from seeing them for the most part. He filed paperwork asking for sole custody of his two sons over a year ago and has been in and out of court since.
The case was finally decided in Dwyane Wade's favor and his two sons arrived in Miami on Friday. Wade told the AP that he was fighting because he wanted to be a father in his kids life.
The Heat have snapped the losing streak and since the ruling Wade has played exceptionally well. The day after his sons arrived Wade had one of the best all around games he has ever played againt the Memphis Grizzlies. He had 28 points, nine assists, five rebounds and five blocked shots.

I think it is amazing that he is fighting so hard to stay a part of his children's lives. You rarely read a story about someone working to do something good, you always tend to hear about the bad. This is great to hear that he wants to be a good father and will do anything to be there for his kids.
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy that he is working so hard to stay in the lives of his children. I agree with Kate, you only hear the bad and not always the good. Thanks for writing this!
ReplyDeleteThis is really neat and i love the picture you put up. I like how you related his personal life to how he plays on the court... because i'm sure this does have a big effect on how players play.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm so glad he got his kids back. It's great that he was more focused on that then his career. Show you where his heart actually is.
ReplyDeleteI like hearing stories like this. Kids needs both a mom and dad. I can imagine how all that weighing on his mind would affect his playing.
